An annuitant of an Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) is the person for whom the plan or fund provides a retirement income.
In certain circumstances, the surviving spouse or common-law partner may qualify as the annuitant when, because of the death, he or she become entitled to receive benefits out of the plan or fund.
