A list of non tax deductible legal fees

Here is a list of legal fee expense that is not tax deductible:

    • Legal fees incurred in relation to a criminal charge of tax evasion
    • Legal fees incurred to fight a bid to take over control of a corporation
    • Legal fees paid to collect or establish a right to salary or wages owed if the taxpayer fails to establish some amount is owed.
    • Legal fees paid to obtain benefits under a “wage loss replacement plan”
    • Legal fees paid to oppose spousal or child support claim
    • Legal fees paid to prevent an even higher spousal or child support
    • Legal fees paid in relation to the divorce itself or property issues
    • Legal fees paid in relation to custody or access issues
